Dark Lord Hero Review

Dark Lord is a fast, hard-hitting sniper. His secondary skills have some power as well, but they are just that, secondary. One reduces the duration of the target and nearby enemies' buffs by 1 turn. That is not terribly significant for an enemy whose buff lasts for 4, 5 or 6 turns. However for the shorter term buffs, like 2 or 3 turn buffs, that can have a major effect. The corrosive poison lowers mana generation by 9% each turn. So for the first turn it is -9%, for the second it is -18% and the third is -27%. Although that will slow down one enemy, it is not very significant because the enemy is unlikely to fire again after hit by Dark Lord. With a 390% damage, and 801 base attack stat, a single hit by Dark Lord will likely kill or at least severely damage the targeted enemy.

For attack, Dark Lord will be a good purple single hit sniper, and could be a good replacement for Domitia or Sartana on an attack team. He also hits hard like Seshat, and could be a good alternative there as well. Defense is a different story. Dark Lord will be a good defense hero, but will be unlikely to replace Seshat due to her minion spawn ability. Nevertheless, Dark Lord certainly is usable as a hard-hitting sniper on a defense team.

Dark Lord also can be effective against titans. It can fill a high tile damage slot in a titan attack team. Its secondary skill of corrosive damage also will slow down the titan's mana gain, but not much.

For the League of Villians challenge event, Dark Lord also carries some added benefits. As a Villians event hero for that event, it gets some buffs that are only available while playing that event. One is that Villians heroes, like Dark Lord, get a 20% stat buff. So Dark Lord's base stats are buffed up like this:
  • Attack: 801 --> 961
  • Defense: 749 --> 899
  • Health: 1357 --> 1628
Other buffs, like emblem and troop buffs are added on top of that. So, for the event Dark Lord becomes a monster! In addition, Dark Lord bypasses the event elemental barrier. This means that even though the League of Villians event reflect color is purple, like Dark Lord, DL's attack bypasses that barrier, making it usable in that event.

Dark Lord Grading:

  • Attack: A
  • Overall Defense: A
    • Tank: B
    • Flank: A
    • Wing: A
  • Titans: B+
  • Raid Tournaments:
    • Rush: B+
    • Buff Booster: A-
    • Bloody Battle: A
Overall Dark Lord Rating: A
What do you think of Dark Lord hero? Do you think he should be rated an "A" or an "A+". I consider it borderline A - A+ for Attack and raising the Attack might be enough to elevate this event hero up to an A+.

I have a feeling he will be better with emblems. I havent yet faced a fully level maxed DL yet so its skewed, but the couple of viewings, he hits hard enough, the poison damage especially late in battles can be quite annoying if your healer is dead already, he has some staying power.
I do believe the reducing the status effects by x turns is iffy. with defense down heroes (Other than maybe Athena) its not that useful as you generally fire before the last turn, and in all but certain cases its rare you get any 2nd shots off on the last turn anyway. heal over time, might be slightly useful by reducing 33% of healing, but they still get most of it.

Id like it better if it reduced by 2 turns. would be very serious against 2/3 turn buffs, and still painful against 4+ turn. As is, that portion is the least of the worries.

But still a good solid looking dark hero, albeit hard to gauge because I simply havent faced him much yet. I do like the reoplacement idea for Dom and Sartana, and I agree, seshat is probably superior bcause her minions keep her alive to hit 400% shots again even as you scream GEEZUS WILL YOU DIE ALREADY?!?! A very underappreciated till it kicks you in the face skill.

Till I see him more though(And at least a couple of them maxed), he just hasnt felt quite solid A level (yet?). Im thinking more A-/B+ as the buff reduction has not stopped me from killing his teams in the normal fashion (No special heroes swapped in or strategy changes). on the few occasions so far.
